Educational Support
At Indiana MENTOR, we believe that education is the key to a brighter future. Our educational support services—also known as Truancy Termination—emphasizes family involvement and teaches adolescents new skills to help them succeed in school and in life. We work cooperatively with children, their families and school officials—along with the Department of Children’s Services (DCS) and Juvenile Department/Juvenile Status (JD/JS)—to help youth increase attendance, stay in school and drive toward a bright future
Unique Services for Each Child
Our individualized services are mission-driven, strengths-based, and focused on helping youth achieve long-term goals and stability. We advocate for each child’s needs while monitoring attendance, behavior, and academic performance. Program specialists meet with the children regularly at school and meet with the children and families regularly in the family’s home.
Our primary method of getting youth back on track and increasing school attendance is through parental and youth education. The specialists also maintain regular contact with school staff, administrators, probation officers and any other professionals involved in the cases and educational plans to ensure that each child is on track toward success.
