Three Brothers Find Permanency and Pathways to Success
23 December 2013
In 2009, Mentors Angela and George Smith welcomed into their home three siblings supported by Indiana MENTOR’s Indianapolis Therapeutic Foster Care program: Daishawn, 18, Devan, 12, and Christopher, 6.
“I figured with the love that was given to us from our parents, why not share the love and pass it down,” says Angela.
The Smiths soon found themselves attached to the boys and in 2012 adopted them. Since being in the Smiths’ home, all three boys have thrived. Daishawn attends Ball State University as a freshman and is involved in a number of campus leadership programs. Devan is an honor roll student actively involved in acting and music through the Asante Children’s Theater in Indianapolis and plans to attend a school for the performing arts in the spring. The youngest sibling, Christopher is following in his older brothers’ footsteps as an honor roll student. He loves read and going to the library is one of his favorite family activities. All three boys are also active in the family’s church community.
“The whole MENTOR team is immensely proud of these outstanding young men and look forward to celebrating their many future successes and accomplishments,” says Erica Reichert, Program Director at Indiana MENTOR.
